Among Wakayama Medical University-owned hospitals, the city-center-based Medical Center for Health Promotion and Sport Science mainly provides rehabilitation care. The Medical Center is supported by a team of highly dedicated staff in Sports Research Center in which focuses on sports studies and training supports. Also, the Center is well equipped with a variety of state-of-the-art facilities and equipment including 3D Movement Analysis System, an environmental chamber and a customized treadmill for a wheelchair. Since the center is specialized in disabled sports studies, it has been designated as the Kyoten (headquarters) for Joint Usage/Research Center of Sports for Persons with Impairments by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
